ABOUT US

Sigi Oblander

One of the most anointed and powerfully used women in ministry today is Sigi Oblander. She ministers equally effectively to men and women, but has had for many years a vision to see the fulfillment of Psalm 68:11, "The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those women that published it."

The word "company" is translated from the Hebrew word "tsaba" and Strong's Concordance says it is feminine in gender and means "a mass of women organized for warfare (an army)."

This verse clearly establishes a prophetic promise that there would be a day when women would be liberated to preach (publish) the word and do the work of the Lord in great power along with men.

Sigi has had this prophetic insight for years - to bring women to find their rightful place in the Lord's work, fulfilling their ministries for His glory.

She also has a strong desire to see a networking of women in unity across the divides of denominations, race, and nations, in order to see the Kingdom of God advance.

Women of Vision retreats have taken place in several American states including Florida, California, Arkansas, Montana, New York, Pennsylvania and also oversees in South Africa.

The vision that God has given is limitless, but in Sigi's own words, "we are not seeking for it to become all glitz and glamour with thousands of women at each meeting or retreat, rather let us keep it intimate in order to establish true and lasting friendships."

Today Sigi resides in Atlanta Georgia, USA, with her husband David, a pastor. Their two children, Tammy and Ben are University Graduates pursuing their careers.

"Let me see Thy glory (Exodus 33:18)" is the cry of Sigi's heart, which has been forged in the crucible of her life - beginning in war-torn Germany, through her youth under communist domination, her family's flight to freedom, the devastation of her own life separated from God, God's preparation of her for ministry and countless, subsequent daring and powerful exploits for God.

Sigi has been set on a course of Divine destiny to discover the reality and power of real freedom, and to see God's hand produce revival in the midst of oppression and lack.

Sigi and David Oblander Sigi has been a missionary, a servant, "God's reporter," sent by the Holy Spirit to go where no one else would go. She has ministered in more than 95 nations and has preached for more than 35 years a prophetic message of brokenness, repentance and restoration. God has called Sigi to be a voice to the nations.

She says, "To come to South Africa every year is the highlight of my ministry. So many times God teaches us a principle by experience. 'Experience brings hope, and hope does not disappoint (maketh not ashamed) (Romans 5:4-5)' To be disappointed literally means to become dry. When we have hope we never become dry.

"God used the nation of South Africa to fulfill a deep longing in my soul. In 36 years of ministry I can say that I have dealt with a great intensity of emotions that pushed me beyond my natural limitations. I let the Spirit of God breathe upon me to awaken a longing beyond pain or joy.

The trauma of saying goodbye...

"One of the things I have had to deal with since I was a young child was the trauma of saying 'goodbye.' For me 'goodbye' had a sense of finality and death, not the normal anticipation of looking forward to seeing someone again. As I lived as a child in East Germany, the first 'goodbye' I had to say was to my older brother as he escaped to the West. I did not see him again for six years.

"Next, my sister escaped and I did not know when I would see her again. These experiences left an imprint upon me, a longing within me to find a release in Christ, a gaining by losing.

"Though I had been ministering many years, I closed my heart to protect myself from those final 'goodbyes' even from my new-found friends. But as I came to South Africa and began to experience what it is to possess a nation and not just houses and lands, God fulfilled the longing of my heart.

"I developed such deep roots that my 'goodbye' was no longer final but every time I came in and went again God strengthened me by the Holy Spirit and a truth I experienced set me free. He let a nation I did not know become a source and a gate to fulfil a dimension in my life, as South Africa touched my heart and enlarged my ministry and brought forth a love that only God can give by His Spirit."

Sigi's assignments have placed her in the war-zones of Vietnam, Bangladesh, Cambodia and Afghanistan; as a prisoner held by the KGB for smuggling Bibles into the Ukraine; as a hostage in no-mans-land on the Afghanistan frontier, where she dressed as a Moslem man to protect her identity; as a preacher's preacher, ministering hope in war-ravaged Uganda, Mozambique, Angola, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Nigeria, Kenya, Croatia and most recently Austria and Germany.

The thrust of Sigi's ministry is to inspire men and women of God to awaken and come into their God-ordained roles, to become mature and empowered by the Holy Spirit; to flow in a deeper level of unity and anointing to find their destiny.

Writing in their E-Newsletter, David Oblander says: "Sigi and I see several channels through which the flow of His Spirit has been coming forth. The first of these channels is especially to leadership in the church. Another channel of ministry has been Women of Vision, focusing on calling forth women in their God-given potential. A third channel is the ministry to couples joined by Covenant in God. I believe the Spirit of God flows where people are truly hungry and open their hearts for something more and are willing to release old mind sets to embrace God's ways.
